Since starting to sell mobile charger separately, how hard would it be to have onboard PC power-cord type plug that you could plug any extension cord into. Always have too many PC cords. Not sure voltages needed

Since starting to sell mobile charger separately...
Note that it's called a Mobile Connector, not a mobile charger.

This is because it's not a charger. It doesn't do any energy conversion. The actual charger is a part built into the car that converts AC power to DC power for the battery.

The Mobile Connector is basically a fancy safety switch. The main job is to shut off when you hit the button so that you don't get any electrical arcing when you unplug it from the vehicle. For better or worse, the safety aspect is the only reason you can't simply plug an extension cord into your car, because otherwise that would be totally doable.

The mobile "charger" as others have indicated is not a charger, it's an EVSE. Or in other words, a glorified extension cord. It seems to be exactly what you are asking for. With the "common" connector being the Tesla plug on the car
The EVSE is actually a smart extension cord. It communicates with the car and only applies power when safe to do so.
The Tesla mobile adapter (or wall adapter) is capable of [email protected] That's a LOT more than your Home Depot extension cord is capable of. The closest comparison is the NEMA 14-50 cord commonly used in travel trailers. And they aren't cheap either.

So indeed the mobile adapter is exactly what you are looking for.

was thinking the car needs a simple way to charge when all you have is an extension cord and a 110v outlet. I already have a mobile connector but newer ones are sold separately

Tesla's Mobile Connector costs $230. It's not that much more than a NEMA 14-50 extension cord.

50 Amp 25 Feet RV/EV Extension Cord, $129.69

There are also less-expensive EVSE options, which really don't cost much more than an extension cord.

J1772 16A - EVSE, $89.67

Remember, you might be really careful, but the unfortunate fact is that if there was a capability of charging with a simple extension cord, a lot of people would use cheap 16 guage lamp cords and cause fires. That’s why we have special devices for charging.
