The Government of Canada announced a new $4 million investment on Thursday to install up to 680 electric vehicle (EV) chargers in Quebec.

Funded through Natural Resources Canada’s Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP), the money will go to Propulsion Québec to install the Level 2 chargers across the province.

The locations have not been determined but will be selected through a transparent process based on demand in public places, multi-unit residential buildings, on streets, at workplaces or at facilities for servicing light-duty vehicle fleets.

All of the EV chargers will be installed and available to the public by March 31, 2024.

With today’s announcement, Quebec will be receiving over 8,100 Level 2 EV chargers over the next few years. Earlier this week Hydro-Québec, owners of the Electric Circuit EV charging network, said they were purchasing 7,500 Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) chargers from Quebec-based FLO.
