Can't change WIFI network for Tesla Wall Charger

I have a Tesla Wall Charger that has been working well for months. It is connected to my main WIFI network, but I would like to move it to the guest network.

Whenever I go through the settings to change the WIFI network, no networks are detected. This is despite the fact that the charger is 5 feet from the router that is is already connected to (the router provides both the primary network and the guest network).

What might be wrong? I have power cycled both the router and the charger.

Both networks offer both frequencies.

R u sure you did the reconnect steps correctly? Don’t you have to make it present it’s own network, then use the chargers assigned password to sign on to it, then tell it what your WiFi sign on is. Only asking because I thought mine had failed somehow after getting it re wired.

Is the guest network set not to advertise? Some of them do that by default to stop random passers-by from connecting to it.
It is advertised.

I think so. The app apparently connected to the charger. I did set my phone to the temporary WIFI network from the charger. At no time was I asked for a password.

Change the name of the guest network. If you reuse a name, sometimes wifi devices will think they know what the password is already, when they don't.

I’m struggling to remember! Once on the temporary network you do tell it the WiFi sign on info. It’s either through the app or a stand alone deal. Once I did that and rebooted it appeared again in the app with our cars. It doesn’t ask, you do have to click something. I just can’t remember.

That didn't help. It just presented a web page that directed me to download the "Tesla One" app, which starts by asking if I am an employee or partner.

If you enable your phone ad-hoc wifi network, does the wall connector sees your phone wifi network ?
If you shutdown the Tesla Wall charger (you only close the breaker it is on, wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute and then restart it), do you see the wifi ?

I barely remembered this so I forgot the app thing. You do need that Tesla one app. Your Tesla sign in credentials work. This process was not the same as when I originally installed my charger. I’m pretty sure Tesla changed the whole thing at one point. BTW you’re a “partner” as far as the app goes. Also, I don’t think you even need to have the charger online anymore. You can change any needed basic settings with button pushes and the lights. Things like watt settings. Being online is meant for possibly a public charger, if your charger is outside or say at at an apartment where you want to restrict access. All being online does for us private citizens that have it installed inside is allow it to show up on our app. But again, to get it online or to restrict access you have to use Tesla One app. Once on, go to begin install. It’ll scroll through options. Use wall connector. Once “installed” you should see it on your regular Tesla app for the WiFi stuff. BTW, if you ever get a battery wall you’ll have to use this app to install it also…again…..I THINK 😉
