I have been using Tesla’s FSD daily for 6 years and CANNOT understand the logic behind it. If FSD is enabled without a specific destination, it would NOT turn at an intersection when I signal to turn left or right, it would drive ONLY straight!

I understand that it is how it was designed but WHY. Why do I have to enter, type/select destinations of hundreds of addresses for very short trips which I drove hundreds and hundreds of times, just turn left or right when I signal to do so. Just to make it clear, the turn signal would be way in advance to make the turn safely, if it cannot turn safely just keep going straight, is that too much to ask?

Because it is Full Self Driving. Tesla actually doesn’t want any input from a human driver. You not understanding this is like ordering chicken at a restaurant and wondering why it doesn’t taste like steak.

You may have been using Autopilot for 6 years, but FSD was first released 4 years ago. And it wasn’t good for anything at that time. It only became truly usable for non-highway driving in Spring of 2024 with the release of Supervised FSD v12.

Wrong, I bought FSD in December 2019 and that what I have been using for the past 6 years, NOT Autopilot!

Just compare it to an Uber: No source AND destination location == no ride.

I do wish there was a way to suggest to FSD that I would rather go a different way than the navigation is directing it. It always wants to return home differently than the way I prefer and I have to disengage FSD, make the turn myself, and reengage FSD when navigation has caught on and redirected my desired way.

I've zero inside information, but I think an underlying tenet of FSD is that it has been developed mainly for the robotaxi, which probably will not have controls like stalks and gear selectors that passengers could use to crash the taxi. It's use on private autos is just for a Wow factor to crank extra money out of buyers with FOMO. So, we can ask (I know I'd love it), but my guess is that, yes, it's too much to ask

I sometimes use FSD without destination to make sure that I don't speed. It's easier to do that going out of FSD to Autopilot and back. I don't object to it not taking commands. I just wish it would pay better attention to speed limits. It's not bad but every now and then it either speeds up (which defeats my purpose for using it) or slows down (pissing everyone behind me. I certainly don't know why, but I wish it were 100% consistant with speed.
