Gas vs EV costs EV wins check my math

So I am at an airport with too much time and thought how much will road tripping in my Model 3 cost vs a gas car. I'm using 34 cents a kwh charging rate because it's what I see most here in the midwest. I get 224Wh/mile going at speed which turns 4.64 miles/kW. So average gas cars get about 26mpg highway. Some get more others get less. 26/4.64 = 5.6 × .34 cents = 1.90 a gallon equivalent. Vs whatever today's cost per gallon is. WOW Im living back in the 60s. Check my math but even if all you did is supercharge your way better off. Gas here today 4.24 and I heard its heading to $5.
Ok of I have a led foot I use 244 per mile which in the end is the gas equivalent of $2.15 electic gallon

They are moving toward 100% clean energy by 2045. It's a slow process unfortunately. We lack enlightened politicians.
So, more expensive energy.
So, more expensive energy.
Not necessarily. You see a lot of new energy that is installed is clean, and a lot of that ends up being cheaper. Think of a solar or wind farm, yes, there is up front cost. but that's amortized over the life of the facility. Coal and gas plants have construction costs as well, which can be plenty high, but they also require monthly fuel costs.

Over time, renewable energy becomes cheap.
glad I don't live in Hawaii anymore, though Oregon is going down as well.
The cost savings is more dramatic when you charge at home. I drive 2000 miles a month back and forth to work at 3.2kWh/mi or 625kWh and my electricity cost is around $0.11/kWh or $68.75
It's much less significant at a fast charger rate of $0.48/kWh or $300

An ICE SUV with 20MPG for 100 gallons and $3.50/gallon = $350
That's a savings of $281.25 per month x 12 months = $3375 per year
One thing I'd add is the misleading information the car gives you. My car (in nice temps and steady driving) shows between 200Wh/m and 250Wh/m, but that's not the whole story. The car consumes electric doing nothing and even if I don't park it up with cameras on etc, and I do the maths, either the battery is way smaller than it should be or that 'Wh/m' figure is bollocks. My SR+ can do 250m, I'm not sure how that's possible. Be very lucky to get it over 200m if you drive very slow and carefully in one trip. Since new, it shows 45,000m and average 247Wh/m. Like all cars, don't believe that.
In the UK, it's around 45p per KWh at tesla super chargers (~56$c). If you use another charger it's around 70p. If you used superchargers here in the UK, I'd recon a diesel would be cheaper to run in the real world. We have different gallon sizes, but it's around £6.3 gallon (7.8USD), a diesel will do around 60mpg so that's 10p/m. If you went by the figures on the Tesla screen it's ~11p/m. So I call the diesel (ATM), cheaper. This is a threat in the UK for EVs.
That said, I've had EVs for nearly 8 years now and I have solar panels+battery at home and charge for free at work...for me...it works well. In fact, without going into detail, I actually make money from it.
And I'm not at an airport today :)

ref; bmw 3 series 61mpg; peugeot 208 74mpg.

A recent update to the energy screen fixed this.
You can now view the energy used by your car while it was parked.

Compared to my previous Mazda3 no mater how much I save on gas It will never be anywhere near the price. 28,000 vs 41,000. I'm OK with that. I bought the model 3 because I like it, not because I believe I am saving the world, or saving any money.

250 miles is pretty easy to do, take a drive at about 55 mph (~70F) and you'll probably exceed it.

Record for Model 3 is over 600 miles.

The difference is closer now. Got my Model 3 - 7500 for the tax credit made it 35K for me. Still 7K pays for a LOT of gas and service.

did you already claim your credit? did you get the full amount?

If you buy a car this year, you can't get the credit until next year.

I understand that.
I understand that.
The $7500 credit didn't take effect for Teslas until this year.
