Not sure if this helps but most highly focused newer headlights like HID and LED are "lower" on the left to reduce blinding of oncoming drivers.

presumably in RHD countries, it would be opposite where the right headlight is lower. Sometimes this is achieved by an internal "screen" that adjusts when you flick the highbeam

 

I can see your point! and I agree, except the normal lights are working fine is just the eye lid part is a lit dimmer one side than the other, specially when you pull up to other cars and let the eye lid reflect back.

 

I think this would be more useful taking a photo facing a flat reflective surface, instead of a convex back of a car. Where your car sits vs the car ahead will throw off what the reflections look like.

 

After seeing your image above, I noticed this while driving yesterday. I think it has to do with the angle that you're seeing the light. I tried to move my head towards the passenger side, and noticed the brightness seemed to lower on the RH side and get brighter on the LH one. Not sure if it's really an issue.

 

Have you considered that maybe your Model 3 is just feeling happy and sexy and winking at you?

I know how hard it can be to adequately document this type of issue. I recommend you step up to the plate and get one of these to get a repeatable and non-subjective measurement:

bought it in to the SC and have the service rep stand in front of the car while I switch the light on and off and they agree something is wrong, they replace the headlamp and everything is good now!

Update: now the new headlamp the turn signal blink twice as fast.... will have to bring it back in and see what happened.

You need to refill the blinker fluid

 

yeah I think I need to drain half of the blinker fluid cuz its going 2x faster than the other

 

It sounds like you are referring to the daytime running lights. They should be at the same.

 

So I took in my car for the same issue (Passenger headlight brighter than the driver). You can't tell if you stand right in front, you need to be a good 30+ feet away from the car, the technician finally agreed, the passenger was brighter. After several days, this was the response from Tesla:
"Technician has verified customer concern, Technician has verified that light pattern is going to be higher on the front right side, to illuminate road signs and lower on drivers side to prevent blinding oncoming traffic/ drivers."

Does this sound correct? Does this mean all Tesla 3's are driving around with one headlight brighter than the other??? This doesn't sound right.

 

Cars have has asymetric lights for decades.

I have noticed this too, as I was in another car and someone was driving my model 3. Since it is just a day-time driving light I have not done anything about it. Now I thinking that perhaps I should.

Yes, it works better if the car is in a dark room, I also found out that it only show when the car is in "drive" mode not in park mode, since this is one of the PUP item I think they would need a better way to ensure their quality. its not a safety concern, just make the car look kind of funny/odd when you driving around.

 

I noticed today that my drivers side eyelid doesn’t light up at all, so it kinda looks like she forgot to do half her makeup I plan on checking it again tomorrow and calling the service center if it’s still like that.

 

I’m having this same issue. The DRL eyebrows were fine at first, then I recently noticed that the passenger side was much brighter than the driver side. Stopped by a service center earlier this afternoon and the technicians agreed that there was a problem. They offered to replace my driver side headlamp assembly - only took about 45 minutes. Luckily I read through this thread before I took the car in - I promptly tested the blinker and sure enough the driver side blinkers were flashing twice as fast as the passenger side. Technicians tried installing a software update and that didn’t work. They sent me home in a loaner and said it should be ready in the morning. We’ll see!

 

I think I have the same issue, just seeing my reflection from parking in front of glass store fronts or behind other vehicles. I'll have to double check it and take some pictures to document. Since the "eyebrow" lights are some sort of signature/DRL, I think they should be evenly lit on both sides. All other cars as I see them on the road that have similar type of lights are evenly lit; otherwise, they look off balance and perceived as an electrical problem. @LUXMAN, @ummgood, @GDN, are your eyebrow lights lit evenly on both passenger and driver side?

 

Have not had a chance to check yet. Will try this weekend. Want to see them in "drive" and possibly have the car driven around the block and look at them from a distance in the daytime and near dusk.

I have not gotten a day picture yet. Too busy today to take one, but I did get a night picture (below) with "Parking" lights turned on, both sides look evenly bright. This was a quick test to see if one side is brighter than the other and they are not. I know that during the daytime, I saw the driver side dimmer than the passenger side. So my hypothesis is that if they can be uniformly bright at night, it must be software controlled where the daytime brightness is set by software to be dimmer on the driver side. I don't believe a full replacement of the headlamp assembly is needed. Just a guess. Of course, there was talk in this thread that one member had the driver side headlamp replaced and it provided the brightness to match the passenger side.

One thing is it might be possible for them at full brightness to be the same but at 1/2 brightness to be different. If you think about how the voltage works if there is a faulty component it might put out the same voltage at saturation but the point at which it thinks 1/2 brightness occurs may be off.

 

Mine are not lit the same and I am experiencing the same issue here. I think I will bring it in. Every other car that has some sort of LED DRL has the brightness even on both sides.

My Driver side had the parking lamp power LED tube blown. Headlamp was replaced and the blinkers started to blink too fast. Brought back to SC and they pushed update and it resolved it.

 

My left side was brighter than my right, which definitely doesn't help to protect the eyes of oncoming drivers. Just took it to the service center and they said it was a common problem and usually on the left side. They're going to replace the whole right headlight to solve the issue.

 

My passenger side signature light (thin LED strip) stopped working yesterday. The DRL on top still works. Headlights and blinkers still work.

 

my drivers side drl strip is also out ... hoping it’s just as easy as a software update since i have xpel on the headlight. will find out next week as my appt is on friday

 

My drivers side thin DRL LED strip just below the upper halo is out as well. Seems to be a theme here.

 

Same issue here. Vin 289**. Just sent a note and picture to Lawrence Shop. Hopefully they can replace it at the same time they replace the right side glovebox actuator which doesn't grasp the glovebox when closed..

No big deal.. Service seems pretty punctual with the email replies and seems wanting to make things right.

Did they swap anyones out yet?

I'm having the same issue. My luck, just had xpel applied yesterday!
For those that had the unit swapped and then had 'fast blinker' issue, one said software update fixed it, the other here said it did not. Has anyone else had their unit swapped and had the blinker issue also resolved in the same appointment?
What are the odds they can perform this service via their mobile units?
Also, this is definitely not a "blinding oncoming traffic" issue, so it should not be intentionally dimmed...

 

can't comment on your blinker issue but someone on the tesla motors club forum stated that a mobile ranger swapped his housing in 3 hours.

I don't remember where I read this, but it seems that the LED strip is coming loose from the housing and kind of slides back where you can't see it anymore. I turned mine on and looked into the gap and was able to see the LED strip lodged further back in the housing. But it's hidden from normal viewing angles, which makes it look like it's gone out.
