Tesla will be updating the Tesla app soon with a new design with a cleaner look and new 3D animations. It's currently in early form and not all functions are ready yet.

That profile icon in the upper right. Has me wondering what that might be. Cloud profile?

Curious to see if it comes with an iOS widget and Siri Shortcuts

Since profile is in place of the loot box logo, I'm guessing it will include that stuff as well as, like Kizzy speculated, cloud based settings for the Tesla network or even for sharing with friends and family who don't have driver (and passenger?) settings on your car; probably have an owner setting to grant permission either universally or on a case by case basis.

If not widgets, I think it would make more sense to have the graphic on the main screen include press and hold buttons for opening/closing stuff rather than having a second level screen for controls. I mean, why a frunk button when trunk, frunk, charge port, and windows could all be active on the graphic (even if it rotates)?

Here's hoping there's more individualized options for notifications. Sometimes, nice to get destination charging complete even if you don't need it at home and would be nice to not have to turn that on each time. Also, maybe it's just me but, would be nice to not be alerted that bluetooth is off every time you turn it off (yup, it was a conscious choice).

Based on the video, looks like mostly a visual refresh for now.

I love the way you think. I would really like to see this - your profile hits any car you drive with your identifier.

The other thing I would like to see is unlock and drive any car in my profile without me having to switch to that being the active car.

I know most on here don't seem to care, but I'd love to be able to switch between charge-level and mileage-range in the forthcoming app update.

My car only features cruise-control, and I don't have Location in my app. Do those with Navigation or FSD have Location, or is that a new feature?

Not a new feature. Are you sure you don't have it right below Charging? Seems odd that showing Location would be dependent upon having AP.
Ah, crap, I'm sorry! I never pay attention because I'm always looking at venting windows when I'm away from home. Can I guess this feature will help me navigate to where I've parked my car? <fingers crossed>

Yep, it shows your car's location on a map. But if you happen to be parked in a multistory garage, then you're still on your own to remember which level, plus location will be wrong if the car can't get a GPS signal.
Thanks, Long Ranger, I usually just flag a store near where I'm parked. We'll see if I can remember this!
Word is for those with multiple cars we won’t have to switch cars for walk up unlock and walk away lock!!

That'd be AMAZING! Though I hope that includes actually starting the vehicle too.

I've not found it too difficult to "start" my Model 3 by just getting in the car and driving. Please help me understand the benefit of the START command, tganks.

I guess initially the Robotaxi network would require a driver profile for the person behind the wheel.

This is referring to those of us with multiple Tesla's under our account. Right now the Tesla app will only connect to one vehicle. So if you have a second Tesla, you'd have to load the app to switch over to it. Supposedly the new update will allow the BT connection to remain connect to multiple Tesla's at the same time.

Thanks, Having only one Tesla I didn't realize they app could only be used to control one car.

So, what purpose does the "START" function provide that makes in easier than just getting in a car and driving the car?

The start function is to allow someone to drive the vehicle without actually having a key/phone inside the car. ie, you're at home and want to allow someone to drive the vehicle without you having to get near the vehicle.

I also used it once from home to allow my wife to drive home in her Y (key card wasn't programmed and her phone key stopped working).
Thanks, I appreciate the insight you offer. This means that if you loaned your car to someone, you'd need to start the car each time they left on a new leg of the journey, right? If this were the case, I guess you'd need to open the doors each time they wanted to get into the car, too. Again, thanks!
