The situation is simple. 2013 Model S. Running fine. Last firmware push update was Feb 10, 2023. Next morning, backing out of the garage, I saw on the camera that the door was still down. Only, it wasn't. Had to verify by looking out the back window. Image on the camera was from a few days earlier not the day I was driving. Stayed in the back up while reversing AND the reverse camera when driving.

Camera was glitchy and went from black screen to grey screen to white wheel lines on black screen to black then back to working like it never happened.

2 days later, backing out of garage, image on the screen was from a week previous - yep, a week ago I was driving down a street I rarely go on looking. looking at real estate. The image from that street, looking backward, remained on my back-up camera and the reverse camera while driving for a few hours. Took me a while to figure out where it was from and that I was driving forward the whole time.

Where are the images being stored and recalled from? Is all of the driving data being stored and used for something?

I spoke to the software techs at Tesla who told me it could not be happening, until I discussed the video and pictures I had. We tried the two reboots and a power-off. Same problem. They recommended going to the shop to get a reinstall. Yep, wipe the evidence. Nothing to see over here!!

Looks like Tesla may be collecting and storing a lot more than just telemetry.

Looking for ideas, thoughts, or comments.

As you seem to realize, you seem to have come across a bug. could be from a variety of sources, including a not perfect download.
When bugs exist, all sorts of things can go wrong. It sounds like some buffers are not getting cleared correctly, possible because the camera algorithms have gone a little foobar.

Not really a reason to go paranoid.
But yes, some data and video is uploaded to Tesla. That's how they train the AI.

MCU Recall / eMMC was done some time ago. All wired connections have been checked. It has been 12 days and the "self-correct" option has not materialized. Simply a black screen now most of the time with the white lines sometimes for a brief moment. I get the buffer concept, but it would seem like a ton of data to store in a relatively small buffer to recall images from 7 days previous. No paranoia here because we are all on camera every day like it or not. I was questioning where the data for the camera was being drawn from and to see if anyone else out there has had the same issue from the last firmware push.

If anyone has ideas, let me know. Going to be a while before I can get it into the shop because it is not seen as a priority issue for them.

I have had the same issue with my TMX. In my case, the camera is failing but sometime an "outdated" image pops up - I imagine it has been stored in a buffer. However, I have never seen evidence of even older images stored this way. I have a suspicion, that this could be the MCU1 failing? In the same period this unit has become very unstable with sudden restarts....
