What is a Solar Inverter? It's a device that converts the DC power generated by solar panels into AC power that one can use in most homes. When we first shopped around for solar, we had many choices and we picked our provider based on cost, and it turned out to be a pretty good technical solution as well.

We have micro-inverters and we just had a failure and repair and I thought to share our experience. (http://pascual.co/ActiveE/2017/06/solar-panels-and-inverters-our-first-solar-repair-experience/)

Nice write-up. Our PV system has been going strong since 2009, producing an average of 20.5 mWh/year. Our installer advised us to place the inverters on the north end of our house due to the Arizona heat. So far it's been working flawlessly. It's good to know about the potential issue with heat when using micro-inverters though.

Yup, our installation has it under the panels... so, pretty sure that's shaded ;) However, the panels get really hot....

We have had our Solar City panels for almost three years now. Zero problems. We are very happy. Received a $50 rebate check from Edison at the beginning of the year. We purchased our panels outright and so we are the owners. We didn't shop around. We believe in the mission of the company and wanted to invest with them. It turned out to be a wise choice.
