Passenger window goes down on its own

Another data point:

At a meetup on Sunday, I noticed that my passenger side window was down about 1cm from the seal (about as far down as you can go without opening up to the cabin). It was about 45 degrees outside at the time, and none of my other windows were lower like this. Closing the window with the switch worked just fine.

I can't say for sure that I didn't inadvertently tap the window switch at any prior point, but I'm usually pretty sensitive to sound, so you'd think I would have noticed had I done that. It's just odd, especially given that I rarely ever have anyone riding in the front passenger seat.

As someone with no garage, I'll keep a close on this window and see if it happens again, because obviously I don't want rain, snow, and ice slipping into the cabin. I could try recalibrating the window position too... though something tells me that if this is a legit issue, it's due to a bug in the firmware.

EDIT: Right on cue, just got 46.2.

It happened to my passenger window the first time during parking under rainfall yesterday. The passenger seat was soaked and an error message showed up on the screen at driving route. I wiped the water later and opened widows overnight to let it dry. The error message is still on today. I turned on the seat heater for about 30 minutes during driving, and the error is gone.
Sorry that this happened. Do you remember what the error message said?

Since error message shows again, that is "Front passenger safety restraint system fault . Contact Tesla Service" . I will contact the service soon.
Sounds good, thanks for sharing the message. From your post and the post above it, it's clear that there are multiple sensors that can fail when the window is left down during a rainstorm. Definitely tell your service advisor the whole story so that they can ensure that any electrical components that were exposed to water are functioning correctly.

EDIT TO ADD: For you and anyone else whose windows have rolled down on their own -- if you can provide your service advisor with the date and approximate time range where the car was parked when this happened, they should be able to pull your car's logs for that time period. This will hopefully help the firmware team identify the root cause of the issue and potential solutions.

Unfortunately, window activity isn't recorded by the logs. I had this same thing happen a few months ago, on a very rainy night, one of the few nights I've ever parked my car outside for the evening. The front passenger window rolled down and let in a lot of water. I had to have sensors in the front seat replaced afterwards because the car could no longer detect if a passenger was sitting there, therefore the airbags were disabled. I asked at the service center if they could look at the logs to see when exactly the window rolled down, but they had no history to look at for that.
Wow, I'm surprised they don't log window position, or (presumably) any of the window inputs.... thanks for sharing that detail.

Sorry to hear you were a victim of this issue. Hopefully the firmware team can track this one down.

And today, while driving to work in the slush and rain, the window dropped about an inch. Fortunately I don't think it was down very long before I noticed but some moisture definitely got into the car.
Interesting, so the window motor never made a sound? Did the window just slowly slide down into the door until you noticed?

Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but is the first reported instance of this happening while driving?

I have experienced that, while leaving the driver's side I've knocked the switch for the passenger window which went down, but I caught it when checking the car before walking away and also at another time noticing I had done exactly that as I was getting out, so for sure that can happen too.
I've done this too, at least twice.

It would be nice if the Tesla app could be configured to notify you if any windows were left open after the car locks. My VW e-Golf and its app had this ability, and it would also warn you if the windows were open *and* there was rain in the forecast. :)

I have noticed a couple of times that my passenger side window isn't tightly closed (hear wind noise or see a bit of water coming in. Didn't think much of it until I got in the drivers door today and saw the passenger side window come down an inch, and stay there. Has anyone else had this?
Car is a SR+ M3, about 2 weeks old. I was not travelling with a passenger on this trip, and never opened the passenger door.
There have been sporadic reports of windows (especially the front passenger side one) lowering for no apparent reason. See some of the posts above, I've merged your post into the thread devoted to this topic.

It has happened to me once, and I noticed it the same way you did, from unusual wind noise while driving. Because it was just a one-off incident (possibly because I rarely have anyone in the front passenger seat), I haven't thought to contact Tesla service about it. However, if it happens to you frequently, it may be worth investigating. They'll probably recommend recalibrating the window motor first, and then replace it if the issue persists.

As for the driver's side window, I've found that it's not too difficult to accidentally bump the window switch while opening the door. That has happened to me a couple of times as well.
