Spoke to Tesla and their saying they have no idea 2024 model 3 being any different

So I called Tesla so I can find out when the 2024 model is going to come out and asked about the new features and their saying they have nothing on the 2024 model 3 being any different from what we have now, I was shocked my his response.

I told him about all the news online on how the 2024 Tesla model 3 is going to have all these upgrades and he confirmed that they know nothing of that.

I’m in limbo on if I should get one now because of the prices and the rebate uncertainty in the future but having the new model makes me want to wait for the 2024. But now talking to that guy has me confused.

Have u guys have any information on this?

In my 8+ years of experience with Tesla the sales people don't know anything concrete until a day or so before the new model goes live. They're literally the last in the food chain to know about it.
This is deliberate on corporate's part so as to not scuttle potential sales. So it's no wonder you're not getting the answers you seek.

My advice is if you want the new Highland model, wait until it's been confirmed in the configurator then order one.

In my 32 years of experience, I've found the same to be true for brands other than Tesla as well. ;)

Yes - that's how Tesla works. Have you ever noticed there are no references to model year on Tesla's website or in the Tesla app or your order agreement or your purchase agreement... :)

A new Model 3 could appear any time as a 2023 or 2024 year model.

If you take nothing else away from this thread, take this: There is massive disinformation about Tesla available from any number of sources. Counterintuitively, if you have to trust a stranger, trust a stranger here on this forum. Not the stranger that works for Tesla. The average member here is significantly more knowledgeable than the average Tesla employee. We have an acronym here for not trusting Tesla employees, but I forget it. @garsh?

I don't recall an acronym, but we have an entire thread dedicated to incorrect information being provided by Tesla employees.

Everything everyone has said above is correct, but there is one indication of a true model year changeover: the VIN. The 10th digit indicates what we’ve all called a model year on every car in the US. There will be a point at which that digit will turn over from the 2023 letter ”P” to whatever letter Tesla chooses for 2024, possibly “Q” or “R” (they’ve skipped letters in the past such as “O” for 2023).

That said, there is no guarantee the 2024 vehicle at changeover will be any different in any way other than the VIN’s 10th digit from the previous 2023 model…or maybe it will, only Tesla knows and by Tesla I exclude all employees you would likely be able to contact in any way.

@garsh said it best in post #7 above. @Gonzo1969 should refer to that as often as necessary to believe this non-intuitive behavior on Tesla’s part. And it is the answer to why purchase timing is almost irrelevant to acquiring a Tesla.

By law since 1981, VINs cannot contain the letters I, O, or Q.

(g) Each character in each VIN shall be one of the letters in the set: [ABCDEFGHJKLMNPRSTUVWXYZ] or a numeral in the set: [0123456789] assigned according to the method given in § 565.25.

Seeing a lot of discounted NEW Model 3 inventory vehicles so this might be the push to the refresh.... But at the same time seeing up to $10k off on inventory Model S & Plaids sooooo 🤷‍♂️

Today, and especially with for-profit companies like Tesla, definition of the word “news” is fluid at best. It no longer is a presentation of unbiased facts. Maybe it was always this way despite the best efforts of journalism degrees, but it certainly is not that now.

is it true that i can reserve the current model 3 to secure the current price and also get the highland model 3 when it drops?
It is true that there is an outside chance that this could work if you happen to hit the timing right. But it is a gamble and there are no guarantees. Tesla will push HARD to get you to accept a current model 3. I think you can reject 1 VIN/delivery, but after that they will cancel your order and you forfeit your $250 order fee.

Also, with the last major refresh of the model S/X, there were people who had their order placed, and were given the option to take a current inventory car or get the new design for a few thousand bump up.

i have a co worker who owns a tesla, it unfortunately burned down but she's telling me about a loan development fee?... She wasnt sure if it was called that but since her car burned down she was looking over her paper work and saw a 4,000 dollar fee for that.

is anyone aware of this fee?.... is it best to go through a loan outside of tesla?
