Suspension issues - for real?

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2017 Model X. After just putting 4 new tires on, the car is now vibrating badly when turning. If I take a turn at very low speed (under 12km/h) then no vibration.

Took to Tesla they want almost $10k. They said "no obvious damage on the suspensions. However, found LH front fore link and aft link ball joints worn out and had excessive play. Found RH suspension bushings started to worn. Both FUCAs ball joints about to seize. Need to replace front FUCAs, front aft links and front aft link ball joints. Also need to replace steering rack."

There's a note on the quote from Tesla that when they unplugged the connectors on the steering rack and test drove it again, no more vibration was present.

Took the car to another EV repair shop - they quoted me for rear upper and rear lower control arms, front aft arms and front fore links and the steering rack. The vibration is coming from the front not the back of the car, so I'm confused why there's a discrepancy between Tesla and the other shop.

Has anyone experienced this? How did you fix the issue?

Any advice is appreciated!

There are probably a lot of worn things since 2017. If Tesla (or the other shop) can't pinpoint the exact cause, they want everything renewed to new condition. Which can solve the problem, but that's what we call "parts cannon", and not diagnosis.

I suspect the steering rack unplug test is probably the strongest diagnosis. Ask them if they can just replace that and start there. Also, ask if there is a warranty extension program for the steering rack, because I hear about quite a lot of them being replaced on Model X's.
