Tesla Dual Motor badge question

While I was at a shop powder coated my wheels this weekend I noticed another customer’s Model 3 has a silver “Dual Motor” badge on the lower right corner of the trunk. The owner said it came with the car when he took delivery beginning of November. I took delivery around the same time and how come my dual motor doesn’t have that badge?

Anyone else has this? I wonder if I can get one from the local service center.

Dual Motor badges started showing up pre-installed on AWD cars around that time, but it was still somewhat inconsistent.

If you're eager to get a badge, call your service center. The service centers have been receiving them along with instructions to provide them (installed or not) to all owners with AWD.

Got an email to show up on a Saturday or Sunday between 9 and 3 at a local Community College. Signs directed us to a parking lot where there were two canopys. The first was to register and get VIN. The second was the install area. This whole process took five mintues. Now we have a "Dual Motor" badge.

Was in the SC yesterday to have my Winter tires mounted and they added an item to the order...

I ordered the DM badge from my Service Center today. Should arrive in a couple of days. We'll see if I end up having it installed. Thing is... I get the idea of it being needless to badge it and say "I have 2 motors and you don't." But lately I keep looking at my car from behind (from my office window) and find it to be kinda bland. Maybe that tiny badge will help me with that. To me, if the design of the front of the car is a 10, the design of the rear is like a 4.

Only a 4? Maaan. Just the fact that there is no gas tank visible under the back bumper, and no ugly tailpipes sticking out, makes it a 10.

It's time to take my Dual Motor badge off. The only person that has commented on it asked if I had both an electric motor and a gas motor ! :disrelieved:

If you want to know if my car has a dual motor pull up beside me at a stop light !!!

I was just reading that the top model of the Porsche Taycan will be called the Turbo. Porsche has been treating that word oddly for some time; e.g., all 911s now have turbochargers, but there is still a Turbo model.

I’m shaken over the possibility that Dual Motor might be misinterpreted as Hybrid. So, I think I’ll get a Turbo sticker for my M3. ;)

my appointment is this coming Friday at a Tesla service center. i put in the request online to have the badge installed while i have my car there, is this gonna be enough? or do i have to call in to speak with a service advisor?

Originally planned on keeping the de-badged minimalist look, but I decided to put mine on last week and I think I'll keep them. The small font size is what sold me... just subtle enough to add a hint of sportiness without being obnoxious.

All the aftermarket badges are too "in your face" and pretty cheesy looking to me, and no one will know what P3D+ means anyways, so would just cause confusion. Obviously very subjective, and I might take them off after a while, but here's what my factory badges look like (color matched them with my emblems/trim/wheels).

Not enough! Haha it was great going back home for the holidays, the flatness of Florida can be quite boring to drive  but at least the plates let me represent my Pacific NW roots down here.

Interesting thread, I didn't realize you have to request the badge and have it fitted. I thought I would be contacted when it was available. I'm looking to have my tires swapped out anyway, so will ask.

Has anyone got their spoiler?

my car didn't have it.. but when I took it in for another service issue
they added it.. I wasn't asked if I wanted it and was told afterwards that
it was installed... I also there are 2 different duel motor badges depending
on which model you have (regular dual motor or high performance duel motor)..
I think one is underlined and the other not...but I might be wrong...

You are correct, matches the information on the Screen. Performance has the red underline.

Are rangers installing dual motor badges?

Took my car in for the closest TESLA service center by my house today, ended up they are not yet a full service center, so they don’t have those badges in stock. I’m getting rear wheel arch inner lining checked, driver side kind of poked out a bit, and a free car wash. They gave me a brand new Model S 75D as loaner. The acceleration on S75D is definitely slower than my dual motor M3, mostly I think is due to the extra weight of the S.

Anyone know if those full blown service center have the Dual Motor badge in stock?

I just called TESLA they told me a service center will call me when the badge assigned to my car is available for install. They said when I picked up my car back in November the badges are back ordered, but there is one assigned to me when he checked his computer. Guess I would have to wait for it.

I saw a local black M3 in ND and it had the badge. Made me want one.

Mine did not have the badge when I took delivery. However I DO plan to have it installed. Heading up to Tahoe/Truckee when there is snow, they will allow 4-wheel drive vehicles without chains at chain inspection points. Why hassle trying to explain?

Also @Rick Steinwand I recall reading somewhere that Tesla has a template they whip out when installing so they should be able to share dimensions, I'd hope!

Am I the only one that thinks these badges are going to be SERIOUS dirt collectors? The way the car is designed, the back of the car is a dirt magnet as it is. I think the badging will be a pain to clean around (The "T" is already that way). I am torn as to whether I will get it or not.

You raise a good point. The place I have noticed the most dirt accumulating on my car is the rear bumper panel below the trunk. That said, I have a LR RWD, so if I were to do any badging, it would be a third party solution. I think you just sealed the argument NOT to do it.
