Tesla Megapacks tapped for two new battery storage projects in the UK

Two new battery storage projects in the United Kingdom will feature Tesla Megapacks.

Tag Energy has announced the Tesla batteries will be used in the 49.5MW/99MWh Chapel Farm battery project near Luton in England. They will also be used in the 49MW/98MWh Jamesfield Farm battery project near Abernethy in Scotland.

In addition, Tesla's Autobidder software will also be part of the project. Tesla describes the AI software on its website as follows:

Autobidder is a real-time trading and control platform that provides value-based asset management and portfolio optimization, enabling owners and operators to configure operational strategies that maximize revenue according to their business objectives and risk preferences.
The two projects are the third investment by Tag Energy in battery storage facilities in the UK. Their first project is the Hawkers Hill Energy Park battery storage facility in Dorset, which began construction in September.

The company also recently acquired the 50MW Roaring Hill Energy Storage Project in Fife, Scotland. (via RenewEconomy)

Construction on the two new projects is slated to begin early next year, with both scheduled to come on line in the first quarter of 2023.
