Tesla’s highly anticipated Full Self-Driving (FSD) Beta v11 is set for a wide release this coming weekend, according to the latest timeline provided by CEO Elon Musk. The update is important as it merges Tesla’s FSD and legacy Autopilot highway stacks, the latter of which is over four years old.

V11 starts going wide this weekend

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 15, 2023

FSD Beta v11 has been in the works for a long time. It first appeared on employee cars in November last year, and was supposed to released to the fleet of public beta testers before Halloween. However several delays later and the version only made it to a limited number of public testers last week.

The update also address the issues raised by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) which resulted in an over-the-air (OTA) recall. Tesla also paused the rollout of FSD Beta to new owners or subscribers until the issues are addressed.

The FSD Beta software allows Tesla vehicles to drive autonomously to a destination entered into the car’s navigation system. The driver still needs to remain alert and prepared to take control of the vehicle however, as it is still considered a level 2 driver-assist system.

In North America, there are currently over 400,000 Tesla owners in the FSD Beta testing program in Canada and the US.

I wonder if this update allows AP at 90mph, a “1” following distance, AP without mandatory wipers/high beams (or improves them). If not, then still not on par with use of radar on cars so equipped. I guess we find out this weekend.

I hope "the weekend" begins tonight (Friday). I've got a 200+ mile drive coming up Sunday that I would love to try 11.1 on.
I was just hoping I get it before i leave for boston next weekend. I'm hoping it actually does release starting tonight. 400K cars is alot to push out so who knows how they actually determine who gets what first. I keep checking NOTA to see if they have any news

I'd really doubt all of that will happen, or even any of it...

I just checked TeslaFi and FSD 11.3.2 (as part of 2022.45.11) is indeed going out to some owners today, albeit only a small percentage so far. First one was logged just before midnight Pacific Time last night. Currently 71 installed and 103 pending, which together accounts for approximately 3% of TeslaFi vehicles that have FSD.

Everytime I check it, it appears to be getting a higher number count. So looks like its going out to more then just early testers which is great. Now how long until all 400k cars get this update is anyones guess. Always wonder how they determine how to shoot these updates out to cars.

I, for one, will be holding off (despite the nudging alarm clock) since I have a big road trip coming up and don’t want to lose AP for the sake of dry windshield wiping. I can deal with everything else but them locking wipers into FSD is a non-starter considering the auto wipers suck and, since FSD is still level 2, we should be able to override it like we can the auto brights and display brightness.

Part of me wants to test it on a long trip but I’ve had enough experience with surface street FSD to know that aspect is unacceptable and AP is a huge part of why Teslas are so relaxing on long highway drives (even if I do have to guard against phantom braking).

What do you mean locking wipers? I didn't see anything in the release notes or notice anyone mentioning this in any videos I've seen

Perhaps, I should’ve said “tying.”

When FSD is engaged, it sets the wipers to Auto so the cameras can see (future proofing for when it won’t need us). Unfortunately, the rain sensing algorithm doesn’t always get it right and sometimes runs the wipers on a dry windshield because of light or particulates.

You can switch the wipers to manual (steady or intermittent) but you can’t turn them off unless you disengage AP.

Since, as I understand it, this update removes the ability to disengage FSD level AP (vs the old NoA or not option), our only choices are live with the dry wipes and potentially damage something or manually drive (maybe TACC?) until the system stops trying to wipe.

Ugh that sounds annoying. I've only seen it clean my window once, where it stated cleaning window for FSD or something like that. Mind you, I JUST left the car wash like 10 minutes before and wrecked my nicely cleaned glass lol
