When I did my 3 (MegaMaxx in Marietta Georgia) I had the sides done to legal levels in Georgia with ceramic, a short strip across the front dark equal to depth of rear view mirror pod. I elected to not do the rear window though they were willing to order the roll for it, it takes a special size they do not normally keep.

So crazy how much lighting plays a factor. I have 30% pinnacle and it looks lighter than your first picture haha

Agree...but I didn't really have any fun sun pictures which should look lighter than then all.

In general though the ceramic film are lighter "looking" than the dyed films in the same percentages, which is a huge benefit since they are actually functional in stopping UV rays and heat vs just cosmetic appeal.

Hey I just wanted to mention that I had my model 3 tinted today by a shop called Tints Unlimited in Elmhurst, IL.
I brought it to him based on a referral from PPF installer and the owner Tony installed perfectly.
I read tons of posts back and forth about using a 60" roll for a single piece install vs two pieces, but this guy used a 40" roll of SunTek CIR 40 and installed perfectly. We decided to butt it up against the top defroster line and it's perfect.
Just wanted to mention if anyone is in this area looking for someone to do the install.
I'm right in oakbrook looking for a tint shop...may I ask how much you were charged?

Hi everyone, I'm curious for those of you who have had the rear window tinted what tint % did you get? I decided to do 20% on front/rear/back windows but even on a sunny day it's very hard to see anything out the back window. I had 25% of my old car and visibility out the back wasn't much of an issue.

I know the upper portion of the back glass is tinted from the factory, does the lower portion have any factory tint on it? Since it's so much darker than the sides I figure it either had some default tint already or perhaps it's just a result of the steeper angle when looking through the back vs. the sides that makes it seem so much darker.

I'm debating having the rear tint removed and replaced with something lighter but I have no clue what % would allow me to see through it enough without having no tint at all.

Suggestions?

I have 20% on the back and 35% on the front, I think.

If it’s too dark for you, I think the only thing you can do is go lighter.

I think it's possible the tint shop used a different tint for the back window.
When I brought my car in to get tinted, I asked for 30% all around and on top. After they did the side windows, they realized they need a big sheet to do the back. They only had 20% tint in that size. I went ahead and gave them the okay to do 20%. Although it's darker than I would have liked, I think don't think it makes that much of a difference. I can still see out the back fine.

Depending on the tint — it could be even darker than 20% where as your 30% could be lighter. For instance usually ceramics appear lighter than the rating. I would start by double checking what they used on that rear and make sure it’s not a dye tint (those fade/change color and also appear darker).

I’m very happy with 30% as I’ve had 15% and 20% previously but my eyes at night aren’t great and those are too dark for me at this point.

Looking at something similar... just to clarify, the rear piece was 40%? Happy with it?

Yeah, whole car is 40% Pinnacle besides the windshield. Very happy with the shade.

My main reason to go a bit lighter than the typical 30-35% was to not over darken the already factory tinted rear half section and sunroof.

Second, because of the curvature of the rear glass the 40% looks darker there than on the flat sides.

And lastly, 40% should get less looks from the Cops while still having a clean uniform look rather than doing different shades for front and rear sides.

I wanna tint my P3D+ but not sure how it would look with white on white.. If anyone could post pics that would be great!
We have white on white ordered and will definitely be doing tint... but yes, I would love to specifically see some examples of other white exteriors with white interiors and tint. Most I've seen have been with chrome delete, which I'm not likely to do.

Will probably tint my wife's white/white Model 3 at 30% ceramic all around and nothing on the windshield.
