3rd Party Tesla Apps

I have a 2026 Model Y AWD Long Range if that matters. I seen an old thread that didn't get much traction. I was wondering if anyone here has a feed back on 3rd party apps they have tried whether like kept them or not. That old thread talked about an app called Stats App. Does this can you review all the data without waking up the car? I'm new to the tesla family pickup up my first car last Tuesday, and am learning the lingo. When does the app poll the car or wake it up? Didn't know if it would create phantom draws burning up the battery. Thanks for any input on these apps.

Before jumping into third party apps, why not figure out what the first party apps can do for you.
Between the app and the car screen, Tesla presents a lot of data to the user.

And if you are a first time EV owner, don't even think about worrying about the battery for a few months. Because, for most people, every they know ain't quite right.

For example most people think that range is a big deal. In reality it means very little.

What exactly is the point of this post? I mean you’re not really saying anything. If you truly want to track your EV performance, best to start at day 1. You should pick ONE to cut down on drain from the APIs hitting the car day and night.

There are a few worth the money, and many not. Stats app I’m not a fan, TeslaFi I am.

First congrats on the new car. I hope you are loving it as much as we are loving our Juniper.

I would like to give a little historical perspective on 3rd party apps that might be helpful as you read through threads about them. The Tesla app used to have fewer features than it does today, and the 3rd party apps filled in gaps. That could be argued as still true today, but there are fewer gaps that need to be filled in. For example, the Tesla app used to not track any charging stats, but now it does. It used to take 3rd party apps to do some control functions with Apple Shortcuts, but now that is native to the Tesla app.

Another thing that has changed is how 3rd party apps access the data. I don’t know the technical aspects of it, but Tesla formalized and monetized the data access. So 3rd party apps have increased in price because of this, but for the better, I don’t think there can any longer be a problem with phantom drain due to the 3rd party apps.

I agree with @Ed Woodrick that you might find the Tesla app to be totally adequate. Most people do. However, I have used a 3rd party app, Teslafi, for almost 8 years. I continue to use it because:
  • I like the detailed trip data, giving me a record of where the car has been and when. Some people would find this creepy. I find it helpful to sometimes remember what day did we do that, or what time did I leave? How long did that trip take, years later when I’m about to do the same trip.
  • I like the lifetime map of where I have driven.
  • I like detailed charge information that lets me see kW vs SOC for any supercharge session.
  • I like the complete history of when software updates have happened.
  • I like complete history of the battery degradation.
  • I like seeing details of the car’s efficiency, both for individual drives and for the big picture (efficiency vs temperature, for example).

Well one of the problems I'm having is the tesla app giving me the Statistical data of when/how much I'm charging at home and charging at work. I've only used 1 supercharger and in the charge stats on the tesla app shows 1 red bar for the supercharger, all the other charging is under Other Gray bars. But home charging should be blue and work charging should be orange. I can charge at work for $0.15 kWh and at home for $0.067 kWh. At work I have to use the Blink app for payment. At home it should just add to my existing energy bill every month. But its all being whopped into other. Just want to know where my $$$ are going lol.

I would like like to see complete history of the battery degradation. As I purchased the car new.

As big river said I also would like seeing details of the car’s efficiency, both for individual drives and for the big picture (efficiency vs temperature, for example).

As a follow up since setting my home address and deleting a second profile it successfully charged at home and it’s blue. I have an 50min drive in the morning and will let it charge at work just to see if it will color it orange signifying work. If it does then it was just a matter of setting a couple addresses. Lots to learn yet. One picture shows my cost to go to work
run a couple of errands and then back home. $2 for the day.
