Enter Service Mode (instructions in youtube videos) and run the HVAC test. If you get an error the first time, run it a second time. That should either reset the HVAC system, or present a much clearer error.

That's unfortunate, but expected. If you have Tesla repair it, the new repair process should be about 1.25 hrs of labor ($175 US x 1.26 = $220.50 US) plus $550 US for the heater, and $13 US for the service kit, so around $783.50 US. You don't need the diagnostic time since you did what they do already.

Yeah. I'm usually up for most automotive repairs, but perhaps not those involving the HV power lines. I did watch a video of a guy replacing one. Relatively straight forward. However, I have talked to the closest Tesla service center (7 hours away) and that's still an option.

Wow. Just wow.

 

We just got a quote for nearly $4000 CDN dollars for our HVAC issue. Our Model 3 climate system has failed this morning (approx. -15C this am in Ontario) and the service department can squeeze us in, but to pay that amount seems crazy. Our car is less than 3 years old. Service department says the warranty stopped at 80,000km so we have to pay. Any advice?

 

What's being repaired?

 

I noticed in my last service center visit that labor has escalated to $198/hour, at least at the High Point, NC Service Center. Not impressed.

 

What a deal! It's $205/hr. in Tyler, TX and that's relatively low - most automobile dealerships and tradespeople here are around $225-250 now.

 

I have a 23 YLR, and I received a Service warning. I clicked on the app, entered the info and Tesla / Tallahassee, FL replaced the compressor under warranty. Took less than 2 hours.

 

There's also the cost of a new desiccant bag, although that's minor and there may be the cost of refrigerant if it leaked out or is contaminated and can't be reclaimed, although that may be minor, too.

Perhaps Tesla is assuming a worst-case scenario including replacement of the Supermanifold as well, which may not be necessary resulting in a lower actual repair cost.
