I just purchased a 2020 Model 3 LR. I want to use the car for doing some work for Lyft. Is there any way to have the Lyft Diver App interact on the main Tesla display? Its such a nice big screen on the Tesla, I hate to use my super small Iphone SE.

Sorry didn't realize it was phone app only, but I AI'd it with the following response. Evidently there is an integration, although maybe not what you're looking for.

AI Overview

To use the Lyft app on a Tesla's screen, enable the integration within the Lyft Driver app's settings by navigating to EV Hub Settings or Vehicles and Devices, selecting the option to turn on Tesla touchscreen navigation, and then following the on-screen prompts to log in to your Tesla account and grant access. This feature allows you to send routes from Lyft directly to your Tesla's navigation system, providing a seamless experience for drivers.

Here's a step-by-step guide:
  1. Open the Lyft Driver App: Launch the Lyft Driver app on your smartphone.

  2. Navigate to Settings: Tap the menu icon (often a hamburger icon) and select either Vehicles and Devices or EV Hub Settings.

  3. Find the Tesla Integration: Look for an option related to Tesla navigation, often labeled Tesla touchscreen navigation.

  4. Enable the Feature: Tap this option to begin the process.

  5. Connect Your Tesla Account: Follow the prompts to sign in to your Tesla account. You may need to grant the Lyft app access to your Tesla's information.

  6. Confirm and Start Driving: Once connected, you should be able to send routes to your Tesla's navigation system from within the Lyft app.
Tips for Success
  • Keep Apps Updated:
Ensure both the Lyft and Tesla apps are updated to their latest versions for the best compatibility.

  • Troubleshooting:
If the option to connect disappears, it may be a temporary issue or a feature that's being tested, according to some users. Check the Lyft help pages or forums for updates.

  • Alternative Method:
If the direct integration isn't working or available, you can also share locations from a separate navigation app (like Google Maps) to your Tesla through the Tesla app.

The steps above to “integrate” the Lyft Driver App with the Tesla display only allows you to use the Tesla Navigation and Display - it does not allow you to accept trips, or perform other functionality you find in the Driver app. Uber offers a similar solution - navigation only.

Yes, navigation on the Tesla screen is very helpful. The Product Manager in me would also update the apps to accept or decline ride requests or go offline using the Tesla screen. It would also be cool to use the inside cabin camera to record while there is an active ride for liability and safety purposes.

Note that there are "hacks" ways to add Apple CarPlay to the Tesla's screen. They aren't great, but they do function. And Lyft Driver is available as a CarPlay app. But it only shows the map/navigation, no other interaction possible.

My only CarPlay vehicle is one I can't use for Lyft, so I can't test if it even pops up the "Accept Ride" notification or not.

Not sure it's worth any of the (not cheap) CarPlay hacks.

There are also "software-based screen mirroring" apps like TslaMirror, but those have no input, they just show what is on your phone's screen. You can't tap the "Accept ride" button on the Tesla's screen with it. Those also all cost money, although less than a hardware CarPlay hack.

AFAIK, there are only two options:
1. CarPlay. You're stuck using the CarPlay interface, but touch interaction works.
2. Screen mirroring. You can see exactly what's on the phone display, not forced into CarPlay, but there is no touch interaction.

I haven't seen any "mirror the screen outside CarPlay AND have touch interaction" options.

Does anyone have first hand experience with any of these adapters that let you run carplay in the Model 3? I see a few posts on them but there older posts, wondering what today works the best? Two adapters I see are Tesery’s and Carlinkit. Any others? Do they all require a hotspot from your phone or how does it work?
