Looking for help in choosing summer tires for my RWD LR Model 3 w/ 18" aero wheels. I already have a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 tires (paid around $233/tire including shipping) for winter that replaced the stock tires and now need a summer set as well. Here's my importance ranking:

1. Performance / Handling (Want to be able to confidently drive in a spirited fashion and to be able to auto cross the car)
2. Tread wear / Durability (Hoping for ~20k miles or more on them including a little spirited driving same as the original tires)
3. Range / Low rolling resistance (I'm ok with a small hit in range for performance, I removed the aero caps right away and never put them back, but don't want to lose something crazy like 20%)
4. Low noise (mainly low enough to not bother my wife on the highway, we usually play music decently loud.... but still)
5. Ride Comfort (I don't want really thin sidewalls as I want to mitigate rim damage from bumps/holes (PA roads suck!))
6. Cost (Don't want to go over $225/tire ideally, definitely not over $250/tire but could stretch towards it for a very compelling recommendation/reason)

Having looked and and read through reviews and videos on TireRack.com, I so far think these are a good choice:
FIREHAWK INDY 500 - SIZE: 235/45R18

Any help you could give me would be appreciated!
Five days in with the CrossClimate+ and no complaints. They aren't a "summer" tire but no noticeable noise increase and no appreciable efficiency impact.
See my prior posts June 6 & 15 for details.
Oh; did I mention? Get your alignment checked.

I second the CrossClimate+ for PA roads in both winter and summer. Great in rain too! I think they are a tad more cushy than stock 18 inch. Much better in snow and rain. I have 10k on them and would get them again. Only thing is that they are not quite as quick off the line as stock but barely noticeable.

I'm looking for a more performance-type tire, but still all-season. Anyone have any experience with the Goodyear Exhilarate tire? One of the few performance all-seasons I can find on TireRack for the 19s. Looking to keep my grip as good or better than the stock Contis, while not giving up too much in noise or comfort.
Did you try these? Those are high on my list right now. I have the UHP Yokohama Advan Sport A/S which they have replaced with the version 2 which are heavier. So going on 3rd set of tires (don't judge the torque is addictive). The UHP are more matched to my driving so they last twice as long as the crappy IMO Continentals. I wanted to go with the Pirelli P Zero A/S which have foam in them but they go over my target installed price point. I have been fine w/o the foam seeing as well made tires are quite.

Not yet, I'm still planning on getting a few more miles out of the old set. But they are still at the top of my list!

Got the Goodyear Exhilarate tires for the 19" put on this weekend at my discount tire. They are offering a $50 instant saving, discount tire $50 rebate, & Goodyear $100 rebate all stackable. So turned out to be a decent time to buy a new set of tires. These things put the power down quite well. Initial impressions smooth riding, direct turn-in with some rotation then bites (Yokohama took more of a rubber band approach which kind of snaps you in place out of the turn but both do a great job). They are relativity quiet to be foamless. Just got to get a alignment this coming weekend and will update on range, ride quality and noise will probably be better too

Hi everyone, my OEM 18" MXM4 will soon need to be replaced. Looking for another set of Michelin's to hopefully take advantage of the tread wear warranty. I've gone through most of the posts here in this thread and there seems to be a lot of mention of the Michelin CrossClimate+. I do have a set of Michelin XIce Xi3 for winter so the replacement is only for late Spring to early Fall. My priorities are mainly range and tread wear. For those that have had Michelin CrossClimate+ for a while now, do you still recommend them? I hear that some people do see a noticeable reduction in range compared to the MXM4. Would you recommend another set of MXM4 or the CrossClimate+ based on my needs? Would love your opinion @Mad Hungarian!

1. Range / Low rolling resistance
2. Tread wear / Durability
3. Ride Comfort
4. Low noise
5. Cost
6. Performance / Handling

Quite happy with my CrossClimates after a month and low usage (about 1500 Km). I have found they are as good or better for range, comfort, noise, handling than the MXM4. My Wh/km has dropped to 130+ from ~150 since getting them but our highway driving in that timeframe has been almost negligible too. As I recall the tread wear rating is better, but I won't know how real that is for another year. I'm hoping the fact that they seemed heavier at installation means there's more rubber for longer life.

Did a road trip this weekend. Got alingment done while at destination. They had a cool computer read out of the specs before and after, alignment was well out of spec explainimg the previous poor tread wear. Now I've spent some time with the Goodyear Exhilarates. Performance is top notch. Range is comparable for the 19's. About 275Wh/mi in the 75-80mph zone. On rated <65 mph. Comfort is good and soaks up bumps well, plus it has an added lip to protect the rim a little bit more. Noise is where it where it shows it's a UHP tire, again it has no foam so rotation noise is a bit more audible. Time will tell if wear is good but hopefully since the car is properly aligned now.

It's interesting that your alignment was out of whack too. Makes my wonder if there is/was a manufacturing glitch similar to trim/fit issues.

Thanks for the review! Still planning on putting these on in a month or two.

I've got only 22,000 miles on my M3P 18" Aero Michelin 235/45R18 MXM4 tires and I am down to maybe 3/32", so need to replace them before winter (Boston area). Priorities are:
1. All season tires. I don't really want separate winter tires/wheels (though I know Ian insists on this) - I do not ever have to drive on days where there is snow/ice on the roads, and I drove a Prius for 8 years [which was horrible in snow], so this M3P AWD already drives like a dream to me in winter on the Michelins and I really dislike the idea of twice-yearly swaps. I no longer have a daily commute (full-time work at home).
2. Comfort - ride of the M3P is a little harsher than I would like, though I am getting used to it.
3. Quiet - would like to find a quieter tire than the MXM4s if that fits with the other criteria.
4. Rim protection - I gather this is possible with a little wider tire tread? I marred 3 of the rims in the first 6 months of ownership (from Sept 2018), and want to fix them after I get the new tires.
5. Range - Obviously <25k on tires is quite disapppointing.

I don't think I am very hard on my tires (but maybe I am?) - there are so few opportunities to do any serious acceleration around here most of the time. I do a 0-45 or 50 once or twice a month just to remind me how much fun it is. 10k miles a year, and I drive maybe a little "spiritedly" but carefully and politely (no stoplight challenges for me).

[BTW, I have never put air in my tires since I bought the car almost 2 years ago, and they're still around 43 psi - is this unusual?]

Suggestions for new tires?

Not that I expect this to change your mind, but after getting my Model 3, I learned that "winter performance tires" (NOT snow tires) were a thing. These aren't nearly as "squishy" as a snow tire, but are designed to provide much better traction on both wet and dry pavement below 40° F. This is what I'm now using in the winter.

Have a look at the CrossClimates. They cover all 5 of your priorities, depending upon your pickiness. Sounds like your driving habits and requirements match mine.
And check with Michelin Customer Service because they may provide some accommodation for the low mileage MXM4s.

definitely CrossClimate+ for your case. It was a nice surprise that the CC+'s do provide slight rim protection. Hopefully less curb rash

Got 27k off the original MXM4 tires - Americas tire said I could probably get another 4-5k out of it since it was just at the end of 4/32" but I decided to replace them anyways with Michelin CrossClimate+. I live in the Bay Area FYI and still went for these over Pilot Sport 4S due to PS4S' (and other summer tires) low tread warranty. I also do plan on driving up to Tahoe in the winter so want to cover all bases. Already put 2k on the CC+s, no complaints - comfort and sound level are about the same with MXM4 - maybe even a little better. I may be trying Pilot Sport A/S 4's next time since the tread warranty is higher than the CC+'s (45k vs 40k) but since they are so new, I'll wait for reviews from other Tesla owners

Do you know how the CC+s compare for economy?
