After removing the inserts, I found that the dirt that gets stuck between the insert and wheel had scuffed the wheel paint. This isn't unexpected since I knew from the beginning that the inserts weren't completely tight, and do move a little, which causes any dust (tiny rocks from the road) to become abrasive; this is just like the mud flaps that make contact with the body and cause paint to get scuffed. This is more visible on black as well. I really don't mind this since my intent has always been to leave the inserts on.

These look so clean! Mind if we share the pictures on our social media??
Sure, go ahead!

Hmmm, that's not normal. A tiny bit of scuffing is possible and is to be expected, especially if used in winter or other abrasive/dusty environments, but not this much and certainly not after so little mileage. However you mentioned that some of the inserts aren't tight, that isn't normal either and would certainly explain it.
We have on occasion seen instances where there's been debris trapped at the bottom of some of the screw holes that prevents the screws from threading all the way in, and it's usually an easy affair to correct. Just spray a little WD40 or similar in (using the pipette to really get in there) and follow with a little poke/prod using a small flathead jewelers screwdriver or similar tool to loosen any stubborn bits that might remain. Follow with a last little rinse of WD and your screws should now easily go all the way in, allowing you to fully tighten the inserts.

I'm very happy to join the EV01+ club with my 2018 Model 3 Performance. I used to have the 20" wheels, and wanted to improve the ride quality and reduce pothole risk (since I've had two repairs so far)...

I chose the 18" wheels and bought them from Aftermarket EV (thanks to some pre-purchase counseling from Ian the Mad Hungarian - thanks very much!)). I worked with Discount Tire and purchased Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires in size 245/45R18 (including a $110 Michelin/Discount Incentive and 5% for using their credit card - very nice). I also had pre-purchased some new Gorilla black lug nuts and a set of their matching locking lug nuts as well...We re-used the TPMS's from the old setup and inflated the tires to 45 lbs. I had the wheels/tires installed without the aero pieces and I installed them later at home...

After getting everything installed, and driving home, I was actually very pleasantly surprised about how much this really improved the ride quality. More than I was expecting, and I also got that feedback from a couple of other people riding in the car later as well....Count me as another happy EV01+ customer! I'm getting lots of compliments about the look of the new wheels...Very happy everything worked out...

@Mad Hungarian please chime in on the details but the new EV01 wheels by Fastco are finally real!

Ian sent me some pictures of his car sporting them and I have to say they look amazing! They're a direct alternative to the Tesla Aero wheels and they weight the same including the aero inserts as the bare Aero wheels WITHOUT the caps!

Really love my EV01s. With the plastic inserts, they have the same aerodynamic (thus the same range increase) as the standard 19" wheels with the wheel covers installed. I got them couple of months ago for my snow tires (Michelin Pilot Alpin).

These fit on the new highland performance model 3 as well as I saw on youtube. They have two off set options though that I'm unsure about. A 35 and a 40 if anyone knows maybe they can elaborate on which you should be getting?
IIRC, 35 is for Performance, 40 is for all others.

This is due to the Performance having a thinner rotor hat.

Correct, and the +35 version also has the extra step machined into the center bore like the OE wheels on the Performance models to accommodate its peculiar hub...
