I recently visited Frankenmuth, Michigan yesterday and was turning into the parking lot and trying to back into a EV charging stall. (Charge Point) Within 3 seconds I heard a honk from a 3/4 ton Ford pickup truck with a familar bird gesture with his/her finger. It must be so horrible that they had to spend an extra 3 seconds for me to back in to charge and wasted their precious seconds before they could go to their hotel. How inconsiderate of me to actually pay to use the hotel's facility to charge my vehicle.

I've been to a similar set up with Tesla Super Charger at a Harris Teeter on the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Everyone waited patiently and smiled as they drove past.

I wonder why the animosity?

Unfortunately, people can be quite tribal.

They see someone with what they perceive as polar opposite demographics (because they're driving an expensive EV) and see it as antagonistic or even threatening, especially amongst a certain percentage of full size pick-up truck owners who identify strongly with their brand and lifestyle.

EV owners are seen as an "other" who they couldn't possibly relate to, hence the hostility.

Also, we're all a bunch of left wing commies who hate America, right? /s

But I also own a full size diesel pick up truck. As a matter of fact it's my 3rd full size pick up truck. I don't go coal rolling a Prius in my spare time. It's even more offensive when I know they saw my U.S. Marines veteran license plate. It can't possibly be a social status thing since those 3/4 ton trucks are well over $100k

From this encounter I gather this person must hate:
1. EV
2. Tesla
3. American
4. Veteran
5. U.S. Marine Corps
6. The State of Ohio
7. The color white
8. Elon Musk?

I’m a EV hater, in a way. The more we are told that we MUST buy a EV to SAVE the planet the more it makes me want to do the exact opposite. EV’s will not save the planet. there is a ulterior motive.
It’s that nose up to the sky, telling everyone (especially those evil truck owners) that they are killing the planet and you will change, we will make you.

thinking about it. Eying one of the last of the line of dirty gasoline sucking muscle cars, 2023, or 2024 Camaro. Getting one with options I want will be difficult though. But, that’s another topic.

I’m curious about the potential switch to a Camaro.

As someone who’s owned a few Corvettes and just sold a C6 GS, I certainly appreciate the charms of an LS3 / Tremec combo and all that old school V-8 awesomeness.

What is it about the Camaro that intrigues you? I’ve driven a few over the years, loved the handling and performance, but couldn’t quite get past the lousy outward visibility.

Have you considered how hard it is to see out of the damn things, especially compared to your Tesla.

The visibility issue is a lot of the reason it’s getting cancelled, even though I’d argue the Camaro, in most configurations, has better all around performance than equivalent priced Mustangs and Challengers.

I've only been to New York once. I never in my life heard so many horn honks lol. As soon as the light changed you had better get heavy on the throttle or, within a few seconds the guy behind you will be honking their horn.

I can vouch, the M3P walks around them in circles. But there’s something special about hearing a V8 roar.

That would depend on which version of the Camaro you’re up against. Most versions are not as quick as a 3P.

The ZL1 is essentially equal up to around 80mph and would start to pull away at higher speeds as evidenced by many independent sources.

As per Car and Driver, ZL1’s 0-100 time is 7.4 seconds. 3P is 8.2 seconds.

I believe they feel threatened or that somehow people driving them threatens their likestyles existence!!??? :) Most my friends or family that hate on the EV are incredibly misinformed about EV's and the stereotypes that come with them..

You know the usual............
1) their expensive
2) u must be rich snob to own one
3) you'll run out of charge with no place to charge
4) no range
5) wait till you have to pay 15k to replace that battery!

ROFL

It’s not a why bother. It’s more of a you do you, dont regulate ice cars out of existence, don’t support policy that forces people to buy a EV. Fuel economy mandates, and overly strict emissions laws will make it so ice vehicles can no longer be made. Doing something like forcing farmers to use electric tractors is also illogical. doing things with the sole purpose of “being green“ is suicidal in the short term.
Electric vehicles can not exist without fossil fuels. Where is the gasoline and diesel going to go if we do not use them? It will still be produced in the refining process.

Those are the same thing regulating economy standards and emissions controls is what’ll put ICE out of existence. As it is, it’s cheaper to manufacture today’s ICE vs today’s EV. Those regulations are the only thing that’ll push ICE OTD.

All it's doing is making everything more expensive for everyone. As you said. Regulations will make it more expensive for ice engine vehicles, not less expensive for ev

Listen up.

I was born and brought up in NY so I am better and know more than all of youz guys. Plus I am a Lifetime member of the DAV as service connected disabled Vietnam veteran, (6/68-6/69) So there!!!

I own 2 Teslas and a Ford F-450 Diesel beast. Yoz guys shouldn't drive a Tesla anywhere near Detroit Michigan. Fuget about it.

I learned my lesson when I stopped to lunch in Gainesville Florida with a FSU Seminole license plate on our car. I was driving back from Tallahassee right after the Seminoles kicked the Gators a$$es I had at least 6 other cars honk their horn and give me a single finger salute.

In the famous words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?"

At Least I don't drive an EV made by Mexicans, that I remind my right wing friend who drives a Mach-E.

Just kidding!!!! Just kidding!!!! Just kidding!!!!

I'm waiting for the day when one needs to just cup their hand for a drink. Go to McDonald's and someone ladles your drink into you hand. One cupped hand would be a small, two cupped Hands a large. No evil cups to pollute.

any more regulations equals BAN. Which we will be getting soon enough soon states will not allow you to purchase a ICE vehicle. Unless the insane policy’s are reversed.
and more bans. California moves to ban natural gas furnaces and heaters by 2030
The overlapping auto manufacturer and oil industry lobby will not let that happen. What will eventually "ban" gas vehicles is when customers not only stop preferring them, but go out of their way to avoid them.

#77 ·
Yeah... I'm done with this topic. Im really hating EV's the longer it goes on. Went from kind of a EV hater to, I'm almost definitely going back to ICE and never coming back.

I think too many of these "haters" ascribe political and socio-economic stances with which they do not agree to ALL EV owners. These stances may apply to most EV owners, but I can assure you they don't apply to all of us. Unfortunately, it's just another symptom of our divisive "us against them" mentality.

I don't think it's entirely political - I think some people use that as an excuse.

A good way to describe how it works is this:

Imagine there is a huge price hike and shortage for all meats. Lots of people are angry because most people like to eat meat, and there really is no substitute in their minds. Guess who those meat eaters turn their anger on? Vegetarians and vegans. And it gets vicious! Why? Because they don't have to suffer along with most people, and therefore they give the impression that they think don't have to live by the same rules as everyone else.

That's what's going on here with EV's, and the higher the gas prices go, the more anger there will be toward EV owners. Because to those people EV's are not the way out of it, they're for people who feel like they don't have to live by the same rules.

I was giving my opinion over a hypothetical situation, when the meat is no longer available and the "meat eaters" start to kill the "vegans" because in their mind, the "vegans" are the ones who made the meat disappear. That’s a pretty dumb action to take, IMO. Has nothing to do with fear.
If you are telling me that beating everyone at school because you are afraid that everyone can bully you it’s a normal thing…
