When I bought my Tesla, AZ DMV refused to issue any plate but Alternative Fuel.
I had to get an elected official involved to force them to issue me a veterans plate. The law previously stated that Alternate Fuel plates, could use the lanes with no mention of EVs, just what kind of plates.
Fast forward two years and the central AZ HOV lanes are no longer open to single occupant EVs during HOV hours as of yesterday.
Someone just posted on local Nextdoor forums they were upset because their registration expires next month and DMV informed them they had to replace their Alternate Fuel plate. Maybe just one possibly confused poster, but I prefer to believe and enjoy a laugh.
