A fairly recent upgrade linked the windshield wiper system to cruise control. Supposedly, while the cruise control is engaged, the system detects moisture on the windshield and activates the wipers. Once activated, I can find no way to turn the wipers off without disconnecting the cruise control and manually turning the wipers off. If I don't perform that second function, the wipers constinue whether I've engaged the cruise control or not.
I do most of my driving at high altitude (~7,000') Arizona. For weeks now, the skies here have been clear and there's been no precipitation. But early in the morning and late in the afternoon, when the sun is low, the ponderosa pine cast their shadows on the road and one drives through rapidly alternating shadow and bright sun. For whatever reason, that seems to trigger the wipers if I have the cruise control engaged ... and I find that very annoying. Disengaging the cruise control, manually turning the wipers off and re-engaging cruise control isn't effective either, as the wipers activate as soon as I have re-engagee the cruise control.
Is there any way to disengage this feature so I can drive with the cruise control engaged (which, given the sensitivity of EV throttles, is highly desirable on undulation roads) without having the alternating sun and shadow activate the wipers?
(I'll add a second annoyance with the feature, as I've also driven in light rain with the cruise control engaged, and the wipers haven't turned on unless I turn them on manually. But then, that's not a common problem where I am ....)
