Ok for anyone out there with a Pre-July 19' Model 3 that wants Boombox this is how I got mine installed and activated.

I'm not responsible for damage you may cause installing this or Voided Warranty. Make sure your car is fully powered down before attempting this install (via 12v and high voltage disconnect)

There are some things you need to look for on your car also such as if you have the wires under the dash to connect to and if your car has the speaker grille under the right front of the lower splash guard. If you have these 2 things then you need a Tesla service tech to toggle the configuration change I found mobile service tech. was happy to do this for me thankfully, however your results may vary.

The parts needed to install this are:

Tesla Pedestrian Warning Speaker : # 1299965-00-A (I paid $55.00 from Tesla)

Screws to attach the Speaker :
# 1128091-00-B (x3)

Connector for Pedestrian Speaker : # PT3703 Pigtail (GM Part Number)

Enough wire to run from RF Kick Panel to Front Bumper Area

First you have to find the wires from the MCU that were supposed to power the speaker and easily located them under the
passenger side kick panel in a twisted pair going to a connector higher up under the dash

as you can see my harness was built February of 2019 putting it well below the cut off for native Boombox/speaker install per Tesla.

I installed Taps to splice the wires needed you can use any method you would like just be sure they are insulted from each other and can't short

The twisted gray and white wires are the wires for PWS my harness had these all the way up to a connector then stopped there.

Note : the white wire is positive and gray is negative

The black connector the wires stop at.

Once I had tapped the wires I carefully ran them through the rubber grommet and inside a wire loom on the passenger side with the rest of the harness and just followed the harness along the body and dropped it down to its destination (PWS Speaker)

Once you attach the connector the positive wire should be on the left of the connector with the label of the speaker facing up and looking at the back (wire side) of the connector with the clip facing up.

At this point you still will not have a working speaker or Boombox But you can do a soft reboot (hold scroll wheels) and the speaker will function for forward and reverse noises after the car boots (this lets you know your install was successful)

But the car will revert back to it not working after the car goes into a deep sleep. At this point you will need to get a service tech to make the change for you, I already had a mobile service appointment for other things so I just asked the tech when he came to enable it for me.

After showing the service technician (he just looked at the speaker to verify it was there and plugged in) he changed my configuration to enable the speaker.

aaaaand....... It works. Megaphone also works in the Tesla app.

Just to note I was originally worried that it would revert back after a software update but I installed an update last week and it is still activated and has been working great.
Awesome Pictures, But not working........ I'll explain the best way I can (Im doing this on my phone while typing and re-reading the instructions.....
First i found 3 different (white and gray wires) together in that small space.
You can even see them in your picture, But......
I found the 2 you have pictured (Hiding behind the whole set of wires. plugged them in Nothing....(
I had the bought speaker, the Wire, you suggested.
Yet nothing, no sound, no nothing after reboot nothing for sound and nothing on the screen even showing something is there.

Though bad speaker (i did get off Ebay) And trust me when I say not OEM, by a long long long shot....
So with that in mind I wired a car speaker with same wattage and ohms 25watt 2ohm nothing.
Anyone with Any ideas. or am I doing something wrong.

Mine did not sound at all after install. But worked after the software push. If you sre waiting to hear the forward sound, it will never work because Tesla has removed it. Only reverse sound.

HELP
Well most recent update just loaded
v11.1 ⁦(2024.3.10 9d92fb944d7f)⁩
I'll see in the AM if anything works

Hello, I told them I installed the speaker and harness and I need to get the boombox installed. At first they said it can't be done. So I waited a day and asked again through the app I didn't go to the SC and they told me to wait about an hour and reboot my car, I did and it was installed. I still have no sound but I think its the connection of the wires.
Hi, did you get the PWS work and sound ON?

I installed everything today, and no sound at all. I used meter to check all wiring is good, but I couldn’t get the sound and Voltage output from the white and gray wires….

Ok from those same pics I connected to all of the white and gray wires and did full reboot. Each time had car in power off state. Have left speaker plugged in inside car to see if I'd hear it. 2 more updates in the last month and still nothing.

My car missed Teslas cut off time by 2 weeks.

Again, it is not the OTA update that you get from time to time. Your car did not come with boombox app. You have to schedule an appointment with Tesla so they can push that app in to your computer manually.

I understand that it's not an update on software. A service person needs to be bribed to by-pass the cut off date in the firmware. I got that. My issue is... Per reading how to connect the wires I should have heard something once, per instructions to know I connected the wires correctly. So, with that said..... My notes state there are 3 different pairs of the same colored wires together in the picture(all within a few inches of each other) I just wanted to make sure I have the correct wires to be connected too. So yes per instructions, it said I would hear something even after connected to know I have the right wires connected. I ha e a service person coming out next week an I'll see if he can update the firmware for boombox. I'll keep everyone posted, on progress l.

I am attempting this on my July 2019 Model 3. It doesn't have the harness but it has the speaker grate. What gauge/type of wiring did you all use? Also, can you tell me if I tapped the correct wires? I really want the boom box for the awesome lock sounds. I know my M3 has the capabilities. It just missed the cut off date. I just want to make sure I do it right. Thanks in advance!

Just to update I finally did get Tesla to activate my PWS speaker for my 2018 m3p.
I put in a service ticket to replace my repeater cameras as the blinker bleed was getting pretty bad. Once the mobile service tech came out he replaced the cameras and then I asked about the PWS.
I told him hey it's a 2018 I installed the harness and everything myself he said yeah buddy no problem he went and grabbed his laptop, literally took less than 3 minutes to log in, find the option under his software, and activate it. We tested it out and bam, farts activated, lol.
Works just as intended as on a brand new Tesla with PWS from factory...
The service advisor that I originally put a ticket in through the mobile app didn't want anything to do with it and canceled the appointment.
So made another one for the fender cameras talked to the mobile service guy and it was no issue for him to activate it took literally less than 3 minutes.
Mobile service tech even redeployed the firmware to my car just to make sure that it stuck and lo and behold it's in there for good.
Hey did your reverse sounds work before he activated it? I connected mine just like yours and I get no sounds at all. I’m certain I have the connections right.

So that's a tricky one to answer
Because at first I did not get any sound so I assume that I just had a bad speaker.
So I returned that speaker and got another one but then I also ended up messing with the wires I don't know if the wires have to be wired up a certain way versus one or the other on the two wires
But before reconfiguring the car then yes you could hear the reverse sound it's just when the car goes to deep sleep it would go away.
But then when you reboot the car the reverse sound would work and again when the car deep sleeped it would not.

Ok yeah I have mine wired and no sound… my taps are really tight and the connection should be good. By rebooting you mean holding down the buttons on the steering wheel? Did you disconnect the 12v at all?

Didn't have to disconnect the 12 volt or anything just the simple scroll wheel reboot.
Once you rebooted the reverse sound would work but then when the car sat it wouldn't work no matter what until you reboot it again.

Ok I’ll keep messing with it. I really appreciate your response! Hopefully I can get it to work. I really want the locks sounds haha!

One more question… I might have tapped the wrong wires. Do you recall if the white was more yellow? I tapped wires that are lower than I think the picture shows.

I mean it's 2 pretty noticeable gray and white wires that are twisted paired together
Where you kind of have to untwist them a little bit to get a tap on.

I'm not sure what I'm really looking at your last photo 🧐
