So I know I tapped the two wires correctly and I have rebooted several times. Still no sound from the speaker.
Anyone have any ideas.
Make sure those blue taps are the correct size for the grey and white wires. If too big, they won't make a good (or any) connection.

So, thank you for posting what you had on this… I’d only caution everyone else that the instructions lack a TON of steps that may get you in a lot of trouble if you’re not technically savvy. I was successful but boy did I have to fill in some gaps in the instructions. Also, my local tesla SC tried to tell me this wouldn’t work. Their remote config team was not at all surprised that I got this to work on my July 2019 M3 SR+. They did the remote config for me and I had to manually reboot the car for all the changes to take effect. Works just like my 2021 Model Y now.
I just installed mine and Tesla did the OTA update for boombox but I am getting no sound.

I got Tesla to install the boombox app and still no sound. Also I noticed that I don’t have the driving sound option on my boombox app.
You can try hooking up another speaker to see if the one you have is defective. Any 4 ohm speaker will work. I actually have a 6.5" marine grade speaker (for a boat) in my Model 3 that I mounted to my aftermarket aluminum under tray.

Try re-installing your current software. Or wait for the next software update.

Hey everyone, I've managed to get the PWS sound system installed and it's up and running. But, I hit a snag when I tried getting any of the three Tesla service centers near me to update my software – they all turned me down. Their attitude was pretty bad (you know, the usual New York City vibe), and they kept saying there's no way to update cars from before July. Does anyone know a service center that does software updates, or maybe a tech person who can help me out with this? Thanks a bunch.

Yes I tried it several times.
Hi! Thanks for posting this thread! I’m having the exact same issues that you are having regarding trying to get a Tesla service center to send the update to my 2018 Model 3 so my PWS retrofit would work, but none of them would do it because of the same excuse that all of you are experiencing.

Do you have a contact who could send this update for me too?

thanks so much! 🙏

Hello guys, is anyone still doing this DIY? Well, I did this today (hooked up original tesla speaker to the white + and grey - wires as mentioned), but I am not getting the forward and reverse sound on low speed under 15kms. I do hear the speaker humming and made sure my connections are tight. I have 2019 model 3 SR+

Just an update. I was able to get my PWS and boombox software installed and working. I am so happy to have come across this thread, thanks to the original owner of this post for this helpful guide.

At first, Tesla was saying my 2019 model 3 is not capable of having the system since it is a Feb 2019 built. But the key is to ask polite and be patient with them. I got the appt the following week and only took the technician 5 mins to push the software. He confirmed that the boombox will stay even after updates.

Pics below for proof and reference. Tesla charged me $40 for the configuration.

Location: Vancouver, Canada

Hello, I want to know how you are updated in the software. I asked the Tesla service center to update for me, but they did not.
Hello, I told them I installed the speaker and harness and I need to get the boombox installed. At first they said it can't be done. So I waited a day and asked again through the app I didn't go to the SC and they told me to wait about an hour and reboot my car, I did and it was installed. I still have no sound but I think its the connection of the wires.

Mine works even with the speaker harness installed, yours should work too. Yrah, double check on thr connections.
